A Day of Joyful Thanks

I have just enjoyed a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner with dear friends, and realized that I have not yet announced here the news that has brought a great deal of joy to my heart this year.

This past Saturday, November 20, 2010, I was given my writ (asked) to become a member of the Order of the Laurel in the SCA. I cannot tell you how much this means to me, as this has been a goal I've been striving for since first I sat in the middle of a friend's kitchen floor helping her to cook her first Medieval Feast. My task that day was to assemble the filling for Tart on a Ember Day. There were so much food stuff in this one pot that I could not stir it standing at the table. So I put the pot in the middle of the kitchen floor sat down and wrapped my legs around it and took this huge wooden spoon to begin stirring it altogether. I felt like I was 5 years old and back in my mother's kitchen and I was hooked. That was the moment this journey began. The level of excellence I have pursuited since that moment has been achieved, but this is not the end of my journey, just a new beginning.
