Gruen FeldtSalat

Green Field Salad

This recipe provides a sparkle with the addition of pomegranate seeds.

Source: Ein New Kochbuch by Marx Rumpolt, a 16th century collection of German recipes

Original Recipes:

Gruen FeldtSalat angemacht/ mit Margeranten Kern bestraewt/ ist schoen vnd zierlich.

Translation: (Translated by M. Grasse)

Green field salad (field greens) prepared / with pomegranate seed sprinkled/ is pretty and decorative.

My Interpretation:

1 lb. Mixed greens

¼ cup Olive oil

½ tsp. Salt

2 Tbsp. fresh pomegranate seeds

3 Tbsp. Vinegar

Toss salad greens with olive oil and salt. Drizzle in vinegar, then top with pomegrante seeds and serve.

    • This recipe did not specify a dressing. Two other green salad recipes I've redacted have a simple dressing of olive oil, vinegar and salt. I choose to use this to dress the greens for this salad.
