Mists Fall Investiture: November 2003
Principality of the Mists, West Kingdom
This feast was for the Investiture of Geoffrey Scott and Catherine of Wessex as Prince and Princess of the Mists. My intent was to design a feast based on the persona of the new Prince and Princess. The evening after Geoffrey won the Coronet Tourney, I spoke with him and Catherine about my plan.
"What are your personas?" I asked and the response was "Generic SCA". Well, so much for my plan.
"What do you like?" as I desperately tried to come up with a new plan.
"I love Garlic, hate onions" replied Geoffrey.
"I love Chocolate" Catherine adds with a big smile on her face.
"I'm not serving you chocolate at your feast" I grumbled "Do you like cheesecake?"
"Oh Yes!" she exclaimed
"We'll travel then to Italy" I decided knowing I had a couple of dishes that would suit the feast rather well.
The Funghi Altri Modi is a variation of the Fungi di Monte dish done with garlic instead of mushrooms.
Although chocolate was not on the menu, I found a chocolate chess set and created a chess board out of Ghiradelli chocolate squares that I placed on the High table between the first and second courses as the new Prince & Princess were mingling with the populace. Geoffrey & Catherine took much delight in sharing the chocolate with the populace.
